PORTOFINO: between luxury and celebrities, nature and the environment.

The World famous Pearl of Tigullio is situated at a few kilometres (19) and at a few nautical miles (5) from Marina Chiavari. It lies inside the namesake Natural Park which extends over 1800 hectares of land and is crossed by 80 km of mapped trails which will satisfy every hiking afficianado thanks to the year round mild climate. Moreover, Portofino is part of the marine protected area, instituted in 1999 to safeguard the environment and the bounty of the sea.

Whether by land or sea, Portofino bay is a revelation to those who visit, with its vibrantly colored houses and the magical “Piazzetta” (square) where one can still experience “la dolce vita” just like the celebrities that frequent it’s beautiful shops and cafes.

To enjoy an unrivalled view above what once was a simple fishing village, climb the road to the Saint Giorgio Church courtyard which rises above the coastline that encompasses the village. Meander through a shaded path and in a few short minutes, you can reach the lighthouse that offers a breathtaking view of the Gulf.

No matter how you arrive, Chiavari is just a short ride from this exclusive village. In Portofino you can window shop or grab a “gelato” waiting to spot some celebrity from the entertainment world. You can also choose to hike one of the trails in the Park, discovering the rich vegetation and natural beauty of the area.

From March to October, you can reach Portofino via the ferry that stops in Marina Chiavari under the Control Tower – Line number 2 of the Maritime Service of Tigullio. ->traghetti Portofino ).
